What is the winter solstice?
The winter solstice occurs when the Sun reaches its lowest position in the sky. As a result, this day is the shortest day of the year. It is not a visible event, such as a meteor shower or a planet in opposition, but rather an event that occurs.
The solstices (and equinoxes) occurred by the interaction of Earth's tilt and its circle around the Sun.
When is the winter solstice?
Winter is coming. Today, to be exact!
The winter solstice, which occurs in December, marks the official start of astronomical winter in the Northern Hemisphere and the shortest day of the year. The winter solstice goes on today this year, which means that each day will be longer than the last for the next six months.
How is it celebrated
Tangyuan is made for giving to others in Southern China (small, chewy balls made of glutinous rice flour). Tangyuan is also incorporated into the event by the Taiwanese, Vietnamese, and overseas Chinese people.
It is also incorporated into the event by the Taiwanese, Vietnamese, and overseas Chinese people. Tangyuan eating during the Dongzhi Festival (Winter Solstice) developed as a method for the less privileged to join in the festivities. They couldn't afford to do full dishes, like meat, so they prepared tangyuan instead. The roundness of the balls and the bowls used to serve them represent unity and family connection. Therefore, the festival is important to the Chinese and overseas Chinese in asia.
